Meatballs (NYT 368) Sauce:

  • 1/4 C olive oil
  • 2 oz salt pork thinly sliced

  • 2 28 oz cans italian crushed tomatoes
  • 6 basil leaves
  • pinch oregano
  • salt & pepper Meatballs:
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground veal
  • 1/2 lb ground pork

  • 1 C grated pecorino romano
  • 1.5 tbsp flat leaf parsley

dumpling stew

Curried root vegetable stew with dumplings (nyt 238): Serves 4

Olive oil & apple cider cake (NYT pp 823)

curry:

  • 1 onion (10 oz, 280 g)
  • 2 carrot (3 oz, 85 g)
  • 2 yukon gold potatoes (9 oz, 260 g)
  • 1 knob ginger (need 1 tsp)
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 bunch asparagus (5 oz, 140 g)
  • 1 Japanese eggplant (4 oz, 115 g) [only if actually the japanese style eggplant]
  • 4 king oyster mushrooms (eringi) (5 oz, 140 g)
  • ½ shimeji mushrooms (3.5 oz, 100 g)
  • 4 button mushrooms (2 oz, 60 g)
  • 1 tomato (5 oz, 150 g)

japanese curry roux:
